CBN China Tour Diary – Day 3
Chinese investors are impressed.
The main objective of CBN’s trip to China is to invite Chinese industry to Andhra Pradesh by showcasing Andhra Pradesh as an open and stable environment which would be easy to do business in. And he has been hugely successful in achieving that. Spending a busy third day with investors and Chinese Government officials, CBN is confident of taking Chinese help in economic transformation and improvement in quality of life of ordinary citizens, technology, skills, innovation and investment.
Meeting 1
With members of Liaoning MEC Group Co. Ltd
Following the signing of MoUs, CBN’s delegation met with members of Liaoning MEC Group Co., Ltd. Ms. Sun Delan, Secretary-General of Liaoning People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries invited the delegation to visit their province during the next trip.
The Liaoning delegation explained that the company specialized in providing spares for pick-up trucks, cars, vans and their prominence in manufacture sector. Another company called 'Yellow Sea' came forward to build buses for AP, knowing the importance of public transportation in highly populated countries like India and China.
Various other delegations from construction material, steel, infrastructure, industrial and steel profiles evinced their in Andhra Pradesh. A delegation from a university illustrated their student exchange programme they employ. They mentioned that there are over 6,000 foreign students out of which 100 of them are Indians. Addressing the delegates, CBN invited various companies to visit Andhra Pradesh and explore opportunities for investment. He also enlisted various opportunities in building infrastructure, ports, airports, roads etc.
Meeting 2:
With China Metallurgical Engineering & Project Corp.
CBN’s delegation met China Metallurgical Engineering & Project Corp represented by Diao Faming, Managing Director. Mr. Faming said that their company is the first one to enter the steel market in India. He also mentioned that they have a cordial business relation with Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL). The company also put forth two proposals for the growth of steel industry in India - steel making and steel rolling. The company said it aims at a capacity of 300 million tonnes per annum in India. Mr. Faming explained that they employ advanced solar technology and hoped Andhra Pradesh will welcome it.
Meeting 3
With Camel Group Co. Ltd
In a meeting with the Camel Group Co. Ltd, Mr. Morgan Chao, Project Manager, Strategy and Investment department and Ms. Xia Yuefu, Manager in Strategy and Investment came forward to invest $500 million. Camel group, a company engaged in battery manufacturing, was keen to know the environmental restrictions in India to set up a unit.
Mr. Chao and Ms. Yuefu were also keen to study the incentives and packages that are available in the State. CBN directed officers from the government delegation to stay in touch with the Camel group and provide them with necessary information.
Meeting 4:
With Brandix Lanka Limited
Delegates from Brandix Lanka presented a short film on its operations in their unit in Vizag.
Associated with China's National Textile and Apparel Council, Brandix is keen to set up a joint venture in India. CBN responded positively saying that the apparel business will create employment opportunities for women. He also mentioned that his Government has also brought in an effective apparel policy.
Meeting 5:
With China City Construction Holding Company
Later, CBN’s delegation held a meeting with China City Construction Holding Company.
Popular as China's largest urban developers, the company has its own design centre for the construction of low cost housing, bridges and hotels. Mr. Wong. President of the Chinese Corporation expressed his interest in investing in Andhra Pradesh. He also elaborated on their construction business ventures from bridges, complexes to residential neighbourhood.
CBN asked the company to come up with a plan for the construction of affordable housing for these sections. He emphasized on integrating best practices for the construction of these houses.
