Experiences with Maha Periyava: Thrilling Incidents
At the Shiva Temple
The people of Veeravenipuram, a village near Bellary, relied solely on agriculture for their livelihood. No rain meant no means of livelihood. They came and complained in Kannada to Sri Maha Periyava.
"Is there a Shiva temple in your village?"
"Yes, there is one".
"Perform abhishekha there with a hundred and eight pots of water. It is enough if you chant 'Shiva Shiva' when you do it. Sit down in front of the shrine and chant Shiva Nama till dawn!"
The people of the village worshipped Shiva the next day, following Sri Maha Periyava's instructions. A day later the skies literally tore apart and it rained torrentially!

The Chariot that did not move, moved!
The chariot of the Hampi Virupaksha temple had been damaged in a fire accident and so the chariot festival had not been held for sometime. Sri Maha Periyava encouraged the devotees at the Tungabhadra Steel Company to repair it.
After it was repaired, for some reason, the chariot refused to budge. The matter was conveyed to Sri Maha Periyava. Periyava came there and stood for a while with his eyes closed. Then when the devotees pulled it, the chariot began to move, as if dancing in delight!
