The Divine Mother is described as Bhayāpahā in Sri Lalithā Sahasranāmam, which means the one Who dispels fear. The very recitation of Her name dispels all fear of Her devotees, providing them with assurance of peace and security. According to Soundarya Lahari, Verse 4: Her feet alone can dispel fear. Those who worship Jagadambā are not scared of birth and death, for they know that they are in the shelter of the greatest protector of all time.
