An estimated 18 million acres (7.3 million hectares) of forest, which is roughly the size of the country of Panama, are lost each year. What if drones were the solution to reforestation of the green areas destroyed by men?
A project developed by Lauren Fletcher, an ex Nasa engineer, aims at planting 36 000 trees per day using drones equipped with canons that can launch biodegradable capsules full of seeds. This technology will also allow the reforested zones to be monitored to ensure that the trees are growing properly.
Since today is the International Day of Forests, share this post if you think this technology can help fight against deforestation.
