HAPPY 67th REPUBLIC DAY
We celebrate 26 January as the day on which India became a Republic and on which our Constitution came into effect. Just as we fondly remember 15 August as the day that witnessed the emergence of India as an independent nation after decades of struggle by our freedom fighters, we remember and pay our humble homage to all the great leaders who displayed great unity and wisdom in the Constituent Assembly and made it possible for us to have a republican Constitution. Unlike some other countries like USA, we have 1. One Constitution 2. One flag 3. One National Anthem, 4. One Citizenship, and 5. One judiciary for the entire country.
Our 1st Republic Day was celebrated in 1950 and President Sukarno of Indonesia was the State Guest. The practice of holding the Republic Day Parade at Rajpath started in 1955 and Governor General Malik Ghulam Muhammad of Pakistan was the State Guest.
We are a very proud Nation today, holding our head high as an independent democratic country with Constitutionally guaranteed liberty, fraternity and equality. We can boast of an independent judiciary which routinely issues writs and orders upholding our Fundamental Rights and striking down laws made by Parliament and State Legislatures and Executive orders including those of President of India . This is a great achievement and we set an example to many countries of Asia and Africa and Latin America. Jai Hind. Let 'Jai Hind' echo, resonate and reverberate from every nook and corner of this sacred land.
